Mental Health TUNE-UP! :) 2007/10/06 05:55
Hi Loretta,
I was just in a psych hospital for almost a month -due to depression/bipolar disorder - and of all the things that helped me there, it was you, and your hysterical videos that were the best! You should have seen some of the seriously depressed patients (and some staff, I might add!) laughing at your jokes! Boy are you funny!!!! Depression is a serious illness as most of us know. But wow, the power of laughter for just a few minutes was unbelievable. One person I met on the unit also had depression and she was told by a nurse across the room, to "keep it down" with her voice. She was laughing "too loud?" Good grief, I mean, hey, they put the tapes in and try to help our mood, and then they yell at us for laughing too much. What's up with nurse Cratchett? This nurse needs more of a tune-up than any of us I guess. Too bad she wasn't watching the tape!
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I've seen 3 of your videos at that same hospital (different tune-up trips for me - this must have been my 33,000 mile tune-up - I'm 33) but I'm hoping to make this "car" go as far as possible before the transmission gets jammed and the damn "car" falls apart again. I can't afford too many more tune-ups there, but the tapes are great!!! I just wanted to let you know that the patients (and staff) get a real kick out of your videos. What an awesome job you are doing to help those of us suffering in the mental health dept as well. Maybe you didn't even know it helped us. I'm here to tell you it has, and thank you!!!.
I'm now looking for your videos to give to friends.
Hugs,
Kristi

Hi Kristi,
I'm so happy to hear that my videos have cheered you up! It's amazing that the medical field is aware of the power of laughter as therapy as opposed to drugs alone. It sounds as though some of the staff could use a dose of my medicine as well! I hope that you keep laughing and I wish you luck. DVD's are available for sale in my E-store.

I too see the need for much laughter where I work too....some folks are so anal.
I was introduced to your videos when I facilitated a pain group for a colleague of mine who was not going to be there for the meeting. I nearly wet my pants laughing out loud and when I looked around I noticed a few folks laughing but for the most they were not able. I came home that night and went to Chapters or Amazon (can't remember which now) and bought 3 of the same DVD's; I truly wanted to share the joy of stress with a few of my family members as well as friends. I was interested in seeing the differences in how the reactions changed across the ages of those I shared this DVD with. The reaction from my daughter (27) was just as I thought it would be, she loved it..... but the reaction from my family (40ish) who did not buy into the shopping cart and groucho glasses made me wonder what the h___ was up with that. And I guess I see it as they do not have the lightness of heart that I think they should have.... however I hope one day they get it, because I can't imagine my life without laughter. Loretta you have the best life, I love what you do for people, especially me and my girl!!! Thank you
