Just for today allow yourself to ignore something that doesn't seem perfect. You may find yourself knawing on your arm because of it, but trust me the feeling passes. Buy something with a flaw in it, like a towel that doesn't have all the threads going in the right direction. Make only half of your bed. Think spontaniety. Do something out of the ordinary. Have someone tell you they never expected you to do whatever you did. Laugh often, especially at yourself. Buy a cape and satchey around the office or your home and tell everyone how perfect you are, obviously with tongue in cheek.

Hi Loretta,

I just realized a month or so ago that I have been doing this for a long time just because its the only way I can live with myself! I think I make everyone around me crazy and frustrated because I am constantly laughing at myself and trying to embrace all I can out of life where everyone else is so serious. I have struggled with depression and other mental health issues most of my life so when I found out how to not take myself so seriously and to lighten up I may have overdone it. For a very long period of time, I spent most of my days thinking and plotting ways to end my life. I tried more times than I care to admit but then one day I realized if I put as much effort into living as I did in dying then I just might stand a chance. I've been doing that ever since and it has made a huge difference in my life. No one ever told me to read your books or watch your videos but I just went looking for what I believed would improve my outlook on life and would perhaps affirm my sick sense of humor. I am thankful to say I did at first find your books and some videos in a thrift store but now when I am in a new book store I seek them out. I've been on my own most of my life and have had to make lots of mistakes along the way but I am so glad I found your books and videos. They've made a huge difference in my life. Now if only I can have the same impact on my husband and his family and my children who are way too serious. I have to say it is very hard to be serious in the world when you've lived a good part of it in a dark hole, I never ever want to go back there. Anyway, thank you for the difference you've made in my life and the many others in the world.

Sophie
