"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift, that's why they call it the present." Last year at this time my daughter Laurie was diagnosed with non-hodgins' lymphoma. My daughter and I have always had a 'push pull relationship. Ironically it often emulated the one I have with my own mother.

Our actions speak louder than words |
Today nearly everyone has an opinion on how everything could
be made better. Thanks to our 24 x 7 news media, some of those opinions are
even moderately well-informed. We have thoughts on how to improve the
government, reduce global warming, and end the war in Iraq.....

Why do we let our children tie us up in knots? |
The other day I was walking through the Orlando airport when I noticed a woman hobbling along as if she was on some sort of death march. I glanced down at her sneakers and saw that they were untied with the laces dragging along behind her.
“Excuse me … but did you know your shoes were untied?” I
asked helpfully.
“Oh yes, she sighed heavily. I wanted to stop to tie them … but he won’t let me.” As she said this resignation, she motioned over to her surly-looking teenage companion.
“He said we didn’t have time and I have to hurry up.”
“C’mon Ma, we don’t have all day here!” barked the son.
