How do we raise well-adjusted, sane, responsible human beings in a world gone mad? Can optimism, joy, and good humor make the difference? I think so. As a parent, I have always thought - "whatever doesn't kill me (or the children) provides excellent stories!"

Laughter and a positive outlook help us to navigate parental pot-holes and look back on the experience with both gratitude and acceptance.

Each one of us is (or has been) part of a family. Family survival is the most common human experience that spawns the funniest life moments and stories.

I love to laugh, and hope you'll share some of your funniest parenting moments with me. To help motivate you to find the humor in some awkward or embarrassing family situations, I'll reward you for sharing.

Just tell me in 500 words or less about your funniest parenting moment. It can be a story of how you parent (or were parented). It just needs to be a true story (truth is funnier than fiction) that is about you and your family.

Entries will be judged by me personally based on humor and originality.

The winning story will receive:

  • 4 free tickets to my "Parenting With Humor and Optimism" show at the Company Theatre in Norwell, MA on Saturday, January 13th or Sunday, January 14th.
  • The opportunity (if so inclined) to read your story on-camera at my DVD taping on Sunday, January 14th. Alternatively, I would be happy to read your story (with character anonymity and author attribution) on camera for the DVD. 
  • A parental get-away that includes an overnight stay in Loretta's home town at the Radisson Plymouth Harbor, Plymouth Ma and dinner for two at East Bay Grille overlooking the scenic Plymouth Harbor.
  • 1 free copy of Loretta's "Parenting With Humor and Optimism" DVD to be released in Spring 2007

The runner-up story will receive:

  • 2 free tickets to my "Parenting With Humor and Optimism" show at the Company Theatre in Nowell, MA on Saturday, January 13th or Sunday, January 14th.
  • The opportunity (if so inclined) to have your story posted on the Loretta LaRoche website (with character anonymity and author attribution)
