The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost. The Society's cause hits very close to home for me....

Last winter, my daughter Laurie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Laurie is in the prime of her life and is the picture of health. She eats well, exercises, and owns her own Pilate’s studio. When Laurie was diagnosed, we were all in shock, since not one member of our family has been previously diagnosed with cancer. Disease, it seems, is an equal-opportunity attacker and it seems my mother is right – “you never know.” Thus far, we have been extraordinarily fortunate, as Laurie has not had to undergo chemotherapy and is experiencing a state of remission.

Our entire family is incredibly grateful for the current status of Laurie’s health, but we know the future is unpredictable and we are committed to helping The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society continue its outstanding efforts to find a cure for these diseases and to improve the quality of life for all those who are courageously fighting these illnesses.
